Unexpected book haul

I wandered into WH Smith today with no real intention of buying anything (I'm trying to save my money after all) and came across the quite possibly best deal ever! You know how every once in a while they sell a boxed sets of 5 books from the same genre for £9.99 to promote some series and/or authors? I don't often come across a box I'm interested in buying and when I do I usually already own 3 or more of the books in it, not really making it worth my while to purchase the set. However, when I checked today they had not 1 but 2 boxed sets that looked interesting to me and they were on special as 2 for £10. Meaning I just bagged myself 10 books for £10!

Surprisingly I only owned one of them in hard copy so far (The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan which I finally read last week and is a fantastic book) and one in digital format (I'd Tell You I love You But Then I'd Have To Kill You by Ally Carter which was a quick and fun read). As I was already planning on getting a hold on some of the titles (Tithe by Holly Black and Ash by Malinda Lo) all the other ones are an unexpected bonus!

Now excuse me while I go crawl under my fleece with a hot chocolate and my shiny pile of new books...

Tithe by Holly Black: Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces the sixteen-year-old back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms -- a struggle that could very well mean her death.

Dark Secrets: Volume 1 by Elizabeth Chandler: In Legacy of Lies, Megan has to stay with the uptight grandmother she wants nothing to do with. She's determined to get through the visit without any drama, but when she falls into a twisted love triangle with potentially fatal consequences, Megan may be caught up in her family's legacy in more ways than she realizes. In Don't Tell, Lauren knows that by returning to the town where her mother drowned seven years ago, she'll be reliving one of her most haunting memories. When she arrives, she is propelled into a series of mysterious events that mimic the days leading up to her mother's death. Maybe her mother's drowning wasn't an accident after all...and maybe Lauren is next.

Generation Dead by Daniel Waters: Phoebe Kendall is just your typical Goth girl with a crush. He’s strong and silent…and dead. All over the country, a strange phenomenon is occurring. Some teenagers who die aren't staying dead. But when they come back to life, they are no longer the same. Feared and misunderstood, they are doing their best to blend into a society that doesn’t want them. The administration at Oakvale High attempts to be more welcoming of the “differently biotic." But the students don’t want to take classes or eat in the cafeteria next to someone who isn’t breathing. And there are no laws that exist to protect the “living impaired” from the people who want them to disappear—for good. When Phoebe falls for Tommy Williams, the leader of the dead kids, no one can believe it; not her best friend, Margi, and especially not her neighbor, Adam, the star of the football team. Adam has feelings for Phoebe that run much deeper than just friendship; he would do anything for her. But what if protecting Tommy is the one thing that would make her happy?

Poison Garden by Sarah Singleton : It is the 1850's, and a young boy, Thomas, leaves his family to be apprenticed to a pharmacist, at the behest of his dead grandmother. He also inherits a magical box from her, which provides him entry into a mysterious garden. But while visiting it, he sees a ghostly vision of his grandmother, who tells him she was poisoned, and warns him that he must find the person responsible, and save her precious garden. For she was one of five members of an arcane guild, each of whom cultivated an individual garden, mastering the art of poison, perfume and medicine. The guild members jostle for power as, one by one, they are murdered... Can Thomas solve the mystery, before he in turn is threatened?

The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan: Nick and his brother, Alan, have spent their lives on the run from magic.
