Exciting New Book Releases From HarperFiction

I do love a good book event, getting a sneak peek at upcoming titles while connecting in person with the publishers I regularly communicate with over email to discuss book reviews, author interviews, and other bookish fun? Yes, please! So when my friend Laura was invited to a HarperFiction event last month and she kindly asked me to come along, I of course said 'yes' as soon as the invite hit my inbox! HarperFiction (a division of HarperCollins) publishes some of my favourite authors, including Lindsey Kelk, Alex Brown, Lucy Clarke and Cressida McLaughlin – and there are lots of goodies in the publishing calendar from them and others (highlights below).

The event was held at the Soho Hotel in London, which I've been to quite a few times before but never in the gorgeous Library Room, and what an apt place for a bookish event. Surrounded by shelves stacked with books and old-fashioned decorative touches I felt like I'd wandered into my dream study. Additionally, some recent and upcoming HarperFiction titles were scattered about on the tables, enticing us with their beautiful covers.

Even though I was trying to be really good, I still walked away with some new books (I mean, how could I not?). I picked up Last Seen by Lucy Clarke (which I've already devoured, it was SO good), True Love at the Lonely Heart Bookshop by Annie Darling, and Two Cousins of Azov by Andrea Bennett. Unfortunately it wasn't until after I'd left and I was chatting to fellow blogger Shaz about the ones we've picked up that I saw she had a paperback copy of Cress McLaughlin's The Once in a Blue Moon Guesthouse too, which I totally didn't spot in my excitement. Mentally, I added that one to my TBR as well though 😉

I also picked up a brochure of upcoming titles and there are some EXCELLENT releases on the horizon that I am super excited for and wanted to share with you all. Can I have a drum roll...?

First of all, it's only a new I Heart book from my fav Lindsey Kelk *squeeeeee* Way back in the day I read I Heart Paris, which is what got me into reading women's fiction (and lots of it) in the first place, but though I've devoured hundreds of books since then, few of them have had quite that same level of laugh-out-lough-on-the-tube. Lindsey is hilarious, and her witty words pop of the pages. Not only that, but over the years I've really grown fond of Angela, Jenny and the gang so I can't wait to be reunited. I also hope there is a cheeky crossover with the About a Girl series again as I heart (see what I did there?) Tess from those books too. Aaaaanyway... I Heart Forever is out on 7 September and totally worth wishing away summer for. Wake me up before September ends, so I can get my my hands on this book, will you?

Speaking of things I heart, Tolkien is right up there for me and so seeing several new Tolkien releases on the HarperFiction publishing calendar makes me very happy. The one I'm most excited for though? A brand new tale titled The Story of Kullervo, which has links back to The Silmarillion which is my absolute favourite work by Tolkien.

Last but certainly not least, a new release from one of my other favourite women's fiction authors (this one falling in the cosy category so perfect for the holidays); Holly's Christmas Gift by Alex Brown. This is another novel set in the picturesque village of Tindledale and if it's anything like The Great Christmas Knit Off, The Great Village Show and The Secret of Orchard Cottage we're in for an absolute treat this coming November! ♥

And this is where I should stop rather than cite the whole catalogue, haha. Thanks so much to team HarperFiction for setting up the event, and to Laura for inviting me along, I had a great time!
