Highlights From the BKMRK Party at The Boot & Flogger

Bookish dos are the best, especially when they're hosted by one of my favourite teams in publishing: Team BKMRK, the teen and YA division of Hachette! Last week they organised a sneak peek party for bloggers and booksellers to get a glimpse at what's in store over the coming months and, spoiler alert, they have tons of amazing reads coming out. From the highly anticipated King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo to the first young adult novel by Nikesh Shukla, Run Riot... If you love YA books then you *have* to check out what's in store for these guys and pre-order all of them right now, because wow!

BKMRK recently celebrated their one-year anniversary and what an incredible year of bookish delights it has been. With an amazing and diverse range of reads like fantasy novel Everless by Sara Holland, magical MG Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend, and alien invasion thriller I am Traitor by Sif Sigmarsdótti, they've quickly become one of my favourite publishers and so I was thrilled to be invited to their party to celebrate a selection of their upcoming (and past) titles.

I met up with my friend and fellow blogger Laura at nearby London Bridge station before we made our way to The Boot & Flogger pub just off Southwark Street (which, by the way, when you swap out just one letter in each word could be the the Book & Vlogger and that's totally what I'd been calling it in my head ever since getting the invite, lol).

The party was already in full swing when we arrived (ugh, transport delays) but luckily it seemed we hadn't missed out on too much just yet as the presentations hadn't started. Instead, people were checking out the piles and piles of amazing books on display and picking their favourites to create their own goodie bags with either a blue or orange BKMRK tote (no bookish party is complete without a tote bag!). It would've been rude not to have a look as well and uh.... I ended up with six new reads. #sorrynotsorry I'd actually been eyeing their social channels in the days leading up to the event to try and guess what books they'd be presenting but bar one all of them were surprises, which was so cool! The titles I picked up are:

The biggest surprise on the night was the drumroll reveal of an exclusive sampler of King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo, which for a sampler was incredible quality and really quite big so an amazing surprise for the many fans in the room. Though, I have to admit, I have not yet read any of her books (shock, horror, I know!!). This isn't deliberate in any way, I've just never crossed paths with them before. However, I aim to rectify this asap as not only did I pick up the most stunning hardback of short stories by her hand, The Language of Thorns, but also the first book in the GrishaVerse trilogy, Shadow and Bone. So I'll no doubt be a Leigh Bardugo fan soon 😊

Huge thanks to Team BKMRK, and especially Steph, for the invite to the event. I'm so excited to dig into all the exciting new reads I picked up! And a belated happy one-year anniversary, here's to many, many more 💙
