By My Side book launch at Quercus

I recently read Alice Peterson's new novel By My Side [find my review here] and I was invited by the publisher, Quercus, to join the launch party which was held on their rooftop terrace last night! For my recap of the night and some photos please click the link below :)

Not only did I finally get to put a face to the names of the wonderful Quercus team I have been conversing with over email and Twitter for a while now, but I also had a chance to chat to Alice herself (who was very generous with her time, despite the fact that she had a lot of people there to celebrate her book launch that wanted to talk to her!) and listen to her speech in which she thanked the people that inspired her while writing the novel, as well as the two charities that are central within it; Back Up Trust and Canine Partners. Both charities also had representatives present on the night and it was great to meet them (and admire beautiful companion dogs Varick and Sailor while talking to their owners). Please do check out their websites and help spread the word about the amazing work these charities do!

Other highlights of the night included the fantastic view from the rooftop terrace (I'm very jealous of the Quercus team, who get a chance to make use of this location during lunch time!), the delicious snacks (I fell particularly in love with mini cupcake-shaped carrot and ginger cakes), receiving a copy of Monday to Friday Man (as I really want to catch up with Alice's backlist after reading By My Side) and chatting to some other bloggers, including Charlotte from BestChickLit.com and Victoria from victorialovesbooks.

Many thanks to Alice, Margot (+ the rest of the team at Quercus) and the wonderful people at Back Up Trust and Canine Partners for a lovely (and informative) evening!
